Nethermoor Park – Guisley FC

Posted on Updated on

Ground number 133

First visit – 6/10/15 Guisley 0-3 Macclesfield

A torrential downpour followed us all the way over the hills to Guisley and lasted for much of the first half. Despite much more well equipped neighbours failing to beat the rain (Bradford’s JPT tie was abandoned in the 1st minute), we were able to enjoy a cracking 90 minutes of football on a good surface.

The ground does look a little more like an Evo-Stick venue that a conference ground, but there is a lot of effort going in to upgrading it and what facilities there are, are well kept. It certainly helps that all the staff and fans were also very friendly which made for an enjoyable trip.

The majority of fans are based along the sides of the pitch, with a shallow seated stand occupying half of the far side of the ground and a couple of small covered areas of terracing on the same side as the dugouts. There is also an open terrace behind one goal a standing area behind the other.

Guisley also have another feature that always helps to shape my opinion of a ground; a programme shop. This is also a pretty good one, with a wide variety of clubs represented and good value for what is on offer.

The fans stomachs are also well looked after, with a pie hut and bar combination and also a separate food stall on the opposite side of the ground.

Overall a tidy little ground, with planned improvements it will look at home in the top tier of non league football.
