Ground Number 129
first visit – Mickleover 0-1 Tividale (8-4-15)
First new ground for a while, for a huge game that could have seen the home side win the league. This is a ground that has a lot of similarities with Stone Dominoes and Market Drayton, a multi sports development in a rural location. Whilst the ground is in good order currently, there is plenty of scope for expansion if the club do manage a couple of promotions.
The most impressive feature of the ground is a nice seated main stand on the half way line. This seats around 300 and should allow the club to realize their ambitions of promotion. There are also a couple of small covered areas to offer some protection on what is a pretty exposed ground. The only disappointment is that one side has no stand, and no access for spectators, so this is another three sided ground.
The pitch was in good condition given the strains of a long season of football. The other facilities were also of a good standard, with a sizeable bar area, corporate lounge and the added bonus of a programme shop.
Overall this is a tidy enough ground, but it just lacks a bit of character and there is nothing with any age about the place. There is definitely scope to improve though, and that is always a benefit of grounds like this that are more remote.
